History was made, with the overall voter turnout across both phases reaching 66.91 per cent—the highest in the state since 1951, according to the Election Commission.
While the polling figures set a new benchmark, the latest analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) highlights a striking disparity in the wealth of contesting candidates.
Out of 2,600 candidates analysed, 42 per cent—or 1,081 candidates—have declared assets exceeding Rs 1 crore.
This marks an increase from the 2020 Assembly elections, when 33 per cent of the 3,722 candidates fell into the same category.
