Largest companies by market cap 2025: The global economy is set to grow at 2.8% in 2025, according to the UN’s recently published World Economic Situation and Prospects for February 2025.
With multinational corporations additionally playing a significant role in driving growth and innovation, they often get engaged in fierce competition for dominance and establish themselves as the largest and most valuable entities on the global stage.
Last year, NVIDIA achieved a market capitalisation exceeding $3 trillion and became the world’s most valuable company, surpassing both Microsoft and Apple; however, this year, the company experienced a loss of nearly $600 billion in market cap in January 2025 with China’s DeepSeek launch.
It marked the largest one-day drop in market value for any company in US history, with now only three companies on the Nasdaq stock exchange having market capitalisations exceeding $3 trillion.
Market capitalisation, significant for investors and analysts, serves as a metric of a company’s valuation and represents the total market value of a company’s outstanding shares. Companies with the highest market caps are generally considered the most valuable in the corporate world.
While the majority of these top-tier companies are from the technology sector and based in the United States, the list also includes Saudi Aramco, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, which is a leader in the oil industry, and TSMC, a semiconductor powerhouse from Taiwan.
In the new year 2025 edition, Elon Musk’s Tesla has joined this elite group, while India’s most valuable company, Reliance Industries Ltd., has slipped down to the 73rd largest company in the world by market cap.

With a present market cap of ₹191.73 billion, this marked a significant decline from last year’s 46th position.
