As of May 2025, Box Office Mojo by IMDbPro has released the latest list of the world’s highest-grossing films of all time, revealing updated lifetime earnings and new entries into the top 10.
This year, Marvel Studios dominates the top 10 with the list of highest-grossing films, featuring Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Avengers: Infinity War.
According to a report by Statista, the studio’s dominance extends beyond the box office, with Spider-Man: No Way Home setting a YouTube record for trailer views—355 million on debut day.
James Cameron’s Avatar and its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, have been holding the top spots every year, showcasing the director’s unparalleled success in creating visually groundbreaking and globally appealing films.

A few films achieved box office success within a year of release, like Inside Out 2, which premiered on June 14, 2024, and grossed $1,698,863,816, making it the highest-grossing animated film of all time until February 2025. It was surpassed by Ne Zha 2, a Chinese movie with a worldwide gross collection of $1,898,599,023.

In a notable mention, Aamir Khan’s Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is the highest-grossing Hindi movie in India and one of the many globally. With a worldwide lifetime gross of $303,726,694 and a lifetime domestic gross of $12,391,761, it ranks 568 globally, according to BoxOffice Mojo by IMDb Pro listing.
