When Vishal Bharadwaj-Shahid Kapoor’s hit duo made the film Udta Punjab, they focused on one pertinent issue — how addiction and access to drugs was destroying the lives of many in the region. Now, it is a video showing a 13-year-old from Bhopal talking about his addiction to ‘solution’ that has got the Internet to sit up and notice. Shared on Facebook and YouTube, the 3.5-minute video shows how young Kamlesh is supposedly under the influence of the ‘solution’, that he even goes on to show as using, during the course of the video.
While the boy claims that he is from Bhopal in the video, indianexpress.com couldn’t independently verify the authenticity of the clip. On being asked if he would want to go back to his mother, he refused saying she wouldn’t let him use the solution. Authentic or not, while the video highlights a sad reality, some people on the Internet who spotted the video were quick to make memes of the video, said Ayverawat Sharma, the admin of a Facebook page that shared the video. “Some pages were making memes on it so I searched for the clip on YouTube and found the video,” he told indianexpress.com.
Here are some of the reactions the video has garnered on Facebook.
