Chennai is facing the worst rains the city has seen in the last 100 years, leaving it stranded and immobile. Schools and colleges have been shut down and most offices have declared holidays because employees can’t make it to work. Flights have been cancelled and there is no electricity in many areas across the city.
People on social media across the country are doing everything in their capacity to help the citizens of Chennai. Many locals are uploading videos on their social networking profiles to share the city’s predicament with the world, stressing on the seriousness of the situation and as a call to action.
In the meanwhile, the social media circuit has also got together to help each others out. People have thrown open their doors to welcome those in trouble, malls are welcoming footfalls without even the assurance of a wallet, and people who can are sharing their numbers on Facebook and Twitter offering help.
