Snapdeal vs Flipkart on Twitter: We can all buy into a bit of friendly banter

The "glitch" in Flipkart's app seems to have caught the attention of Snapdeal's Chief Product Officer Anand Chandrashekhar and he took to twitter to point it out.

You get an idea of how competitive the online shopping place can get when the big-wigs take to Twitter for a showdown.

With Snapdeal’s Electronics Monday sale followed by Flipkart’s Big Billion Day being splashed across social media promos, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the marketeers from the two companies won’t let go of a chance to pull each others’ leg when given the chance. And that is exactly what happened.

Last year, Flipkart’s Big Billion Day drew a lot of flak because of “error 404”. This year, the process was comparatively smoother but not glitch-free. The “glitch” seems to have caught the attention of Snapdeal’s Chief Product Officer Anand Chandrashekhar and he took to twitter to point it out. “Guess this is part of the app-only strategy,” tweets with a screenshot of “503 Service Unavailable” popping when signing into Flipkart app.

But Punit Soni, Chandrashekhar’s counterpart at Flipkart, immediately responded to his rival’s tweet saying “Anand, my friend :) we were testing our servers to prep for BBD. Sorry you had issues. Best of luck for the festival season!”

Chandrashekhar, after a hour, responded in a veiled remark, saying ” it looked like web users were being left out in an app-only focus.”

Soni, quirky in his response tweeted:

While we wonder if Snapdeal’s CPO wanted to buy products from his rival company, the possibility of a Twitter-war can be completely ruled out with the two “wishing” each other good luck for their respective sales, or can it?
