Rare phenomenon: As mercury drops semi-frozen waves hit the Cape Cod Bay

Sea water starts freezing -2 degree Celsius which is two degree lower than the fresh water's freezing point.

Frozen, the waves not the movie is a rare sight to see. Nantucket-based photographer Jonathan Nimerfroh recently captured what can be called nature’s magnificence at Cape Cod Bay in Massachusetts.

The images and the video went viral as soon as it was uploaded. The waves in the picture look like a muddy slurpy. Mother nature starts freezing sea water at about -2 degree Celsius which is two degree lower than the fresh water’s freezing point, the difference is basically because of the salt content in the sea water.
