The series is becoming increasingly popular around the world, selling more than a million copies. Her colouring books can be found on Amazon.
Basford’s hand drawn illustrations have also been used by numerous brands, including Absolut Vodka, Sony, Nike and Tate Modern.
“Every piece I create starts life as a simple pencil sketch, evolving into a rambling pen and ink drawing usually spanning several sheets of paper. I love the tactile nature of the materials I use and the joy of smudgy fingerprints,” she writes on her website.
In another blog piece she wrote, “Personally, I love the original drawings (which is partly why I hoard them away!) They have character and tell the story of how the piece came together.”
