Remember the thieves who stole a wallet and then returned it to its rightful owner because it’s it had all the old notes? Well, the incident happened after demonetisation was announced so it made sense but they were jokingly lauded for being ‘good thieves’! Not an effect of demonetisation but a prisoner serving jail time in Agra escaped for a week to spend time with his girlfriend and then headed back to complete his time behind bars.

According a Dainik Bhaskar report, Jitendra, resident of Agra’s Sadar area, was put behind the bars on account of murder in 2014. Nearly a week ago, he absconded from jail and headed to Goa with the woman he was in love where he spent some good time with her. The man later returned to Agra and handed himself to the police.

Reportedly, the man had asked the jail superintendent in November to allow him to go and meet his girlfriend. He also told the officer that his grandmother was ill and his family did not have money to release him on bail. The superintendent refused, due to which, Jitendra resolved to escape.

As soon as he escaped, search operations began but the police couldn’t find him. Reportedly, he escaped around the time when he was to be produced before the court.

When Jitendra returned, he was immediately sent to jail and two policemen have been suspended for negligence, Inspector Raghu Raj told Dainik Bhaskar
