Google Tez, a newly unveiled mobile app for both Android and iOS, makes it easy for users to send or receive money over UPI. Unlike Paytm, transactions done using Google Tez are initiated directly from and to a bank account. It’s been a few weeks since the app is around, at least in India. But not many users are familiar with its working and simplicity.
As we’ve explored in our previous guide on getting started with Google Tez, downloading, installing, and setting up a Google Tez account is easy using these simple steps. In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to add a bank account for sending and receiving money in Tez.
How to add a bank account to Google Tez
Adding a bank account to Tez is also easy. But before adding a bank account, make sure that your bank is compatible with unified payments interface (UPI). If your bank doesn’t work with UPI, you can’t possibly add a bank account to Google Tez for sending or receiving money.
Step 1: Open Tez app and tap your photo in the top-left corner. It will expand with different options to choose from. Then tap “Bank account” and “Add bank account.”
Step 2: It’ll show a list of UPI-enabled banks to choose from. Select your bank from the list. You won’t see your bank in case it doesn’t work with Google Tez at this point.
Step 3: You might need to grant access to Google Tez in order to send a verification SMS to your bank.
Step 4: In case you have an existing UPI PIN, you’ll be asked to enter the same. In case you don’t remember a PIN, tap “Forgot PIN” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 5: If you don’t have a UPI PIN, you can enter your debit card information. If you are a Maestro card user, you’ll need to use 01/49 as the expiry date.
