One of the leading media conglomerate Viacom18 will soon be launching MTV Gupshup,Vh1 Hub and Teen Nick Mobile Game – three mobile platforms for all youngsters to interact on.
Rajneel Kumar,Viacom18s VP and Business Head,Digital Media believes that the broadcasters need to learn new ways of engaging with the audience on regular basis even when they are away from the television sets.
He shares,Nowadays,people spend most of their time either on their smartphones or tabs.
As a broadcaster,we need to understand how to use the new tools for communicating better with the target audience. Viacom18 will soon launch three products under the brand of MTV,Vh1 and Nick.
MTV India,in association with Altruist,will launch a unique chat service MTV Gupshup,which is targeted at the youth.
A paid service,this application will be available in 13 different languages to cater to youth from different regions in India.
The application focuses on voice chat feature which is a rage among youngsters.
By this application,we are trying to build up on a social network on mobile phones, adds Kumar.
Taking the passion for music one step ahead,Vh1 India will be launching Vh1 Hub for shopping music content online on the phone.
This app will allow users to download mobile content like songs,ringtones,caller back tunes,videos and more.
In India,there are hardly any resources available for listeners to listen to international music over the phone.
Hence,we decided to launch this product to make international music available to listeners easily, says Kumar.
The third product is a mobile game to be launched under Nickelodeons newly launched channel Teen Nick.
The game is aimed at teenage girls.
Kumar explains,Teens spend maximum time on their smartphones or iPhones,to get them hooked to our brand,we are planning to launch this game. Of the three,MTV Gupshup and Vh1 Hub are paid applications while Teen Nick Mobile Game is a free application.
The consumption of content on digital platforms is on rise,hence,broadcasters aim to explore digital mediums to get the users engaged with their brand.
Viacom 18 is planning to come up with some more applications,but at the moment they deny to share much about them.
