Dull black or grey phones are fast becoming the exception as an increasing number of firms are responding to user demand for colourful devices. While the market has seen phones of a variety of colours,HTC has stepped in another direction by going for colourful patterns on the Desire 501.
Following the launch of the dual-SIM Desire 600 earlier this year,HTC has announced three new phones in the range. Available in three colours — brown, green and a checkered blue — the Desire 501 is a dual-sim phone in which both SIM cards are active. Priced at Rs 16,890,the phone comes with a 4-inch screen,8GB storage,1 GB RAM,1.15 GHz dual-core processor and expandable memory up to 32 GB.
HTC is betting big on cameras in the new Desire phones. The 501 has an 8-MP rear camera and a 2.1-MP front camera. However, the 501 runs an older version of HTC Sense (4+) user interface with Android 4.1.2
HTC also launched Desire 700 and 601 at Rs 33,050 and Rs 24,190 respectively. HTC claims that the 700 packs premium features in a cheaper package. The 700 is dual-SIM dual active and comes with a quad-core 1.2-GHz processor,8 GB storage,1 GB RAM,a 5-inch screen and up to 64 GB expandable memory. The Desire 700 and 601 have HTC Sense 5,which has features such as BlinkFeed (social media and news feeds on the home screen) and Zoe (easier photo management). The cameras are 8-MP rear and 2.1-MP front. It weighs 149 grams.
The Desire 601 has a 4.5-inch screen but the two SIM cards are not active simultaneously. Like the 700,it has HTC Boomsound speakers which the company says has great sound quality. It has 4 GB storage,5-MP rear camera and a VGA front camera.
