Unable to log into Twitter and other services on mobile for the past few hours? Well, the problem could be multiple issues on the TGN – Eurasia Cable System that connects India’s top web providers like Airtel, Reliance and Tata to the rest of the world.
“The cable fault is approximately 110 Km from Mumbai cable station” says a report from system3hosting.com. It says the Jeddah Zafrana segment traffic is also affected due to this. Plus, there is another fault on the India-Middle East-Western Europe system, “78km from Mumbai-Tata station and 36km from Repeater-1 toward Repeater-2”. The update says a cable ship has been scheduled to sail and the fault will be repaired on February 26.
Over the past few hours many mobile users have been unable to log on to multiple services including Twitter and Hotmail.
“There is a cable outage nearly every day, but since we are impacted by multiple cuts on both TGN and IMEWE this means traffic is down and can’t move out,” explains Gagandeep Sapra of System3. Sapra says the problem will be fixed soon thanks to capacity sharing across links and re-routing.
