Xiaomi’s new TV FX Mini LED series aims to bridge that gap by combining a QD Mini LED panel with Fire TV OS at a starting price of Rs 39,999 for the 55-inch variant. On paper, it offers many features typically associated with higher-priced televisions, including HDR10+, Dolby Audio, DLG 120Hz support and Alexa integration.
After spending time with the 55-inch model, it’s clear that Xiaomi has focused on delivering value rather than chasing flagship perfection.

When it comes to design, the Xiaomi TV FX Mini LED 55 adopts a clean, modern design with slim bezels on all sides. Xiaomi claims a screen-to-body ratio of up to 97 per cent, and the television certainly feels immersive when watching movies or sports.
The minimalist aesthetic blends well into most living rooms, while the overall build quality feels reassuringly sturdy for the price. The included stand is stable and seems to be made of metal, which is robust and durable.
Display performance
The biggest attraction here is undoubtedly the QD Mini LED display. The combination of Quantum Dot technology and Mini LED backlighting delivers noticeably better contrast than conventional LED televisions in this price range. Dark scenes retain good shadow detail without looking washed out, while bright HDR scenes have enough punch to make colours pop. At an extreme-angled view, the television’s corners seem to distort slightly.

The 4K Ultra HD panel supports HDR10+, and Xiaomi’s Vivid Picture Engine 2 does a good job optimising colour balance and sharpness across different types of content. Watching nature documentaries and animated films is particularly enjoyable, thanks to vibrant colours and impressive brightness.
Filmmaker Mode is another welcome addition for users who prefer more natural colour reproduction without excessive sharpening or motion processing.
While the local dimming isn’t as refined as premium Mini LED TVs costing twice as much, it’s difficult to complain considering the price.

The one thing that bothered me a little was that when a movie/series is paused, and the TV goes into sleep mode after the screen saver disappears, the audio of the ongoing movie/series resumes without any command, without the video.
Gaming and sports
The 55-inch model supports DLG 120Hz, MEMC and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), making it a capable option for casual gamers and sports fans.
Fast-moving football matches remain smooth with minimal motion blur, while races and action titles feel responsive thanks to reduced input lag. Although it isn’t a dedicated gaming television like some premium OLED models, it comfortably handles action-paced videos.
Audio performance
The built-in speakers support Dolby Audio, DTS and DTS Virtual, producing clear dialogue and providing good virtual surround effects.

For everyday TV viewing, OTT streaming and news, the audio performance is perfectly adequate. Bass response is understandably limited due to the slim chassis, so users looking for a cinematic experience will still benefit from pairing the television with a soundbar.
Fire TV experience
One of the strongest aspects of the TV is Fire TV built-in.
The interface is intuitive and offers access to virtually every major streaming platform, including Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and more. Content recommendations are personalised, while Alexa voice control makes navigation significantly easier than typing with a remote.
Support for Apple AirPlay 2, Miracast, Bluetooth audio output and HDMI CEC further improves the overall smart TV experience by making it easier to connect smartphones, laptops and external audio devices.
The software feels responsive during everyday use, with apps launching quickly and multitasking remaining smooth.
So, should you buy it?
The Xiaomi TV FX Mini LED 55 offers an impressive balance of performance and affordability. The QD Mini LED panel delivers excellent picture quality for its price, while Fire TV provides one of the most complete smart TV ecosystems available today. Add solid gaming features, HDR support and a modern design, and Xiaomi has created one of the strongest value-for-money televisions in its segment.
It isn’t perfect—the built-in speakers could be stronger, and local dimming doesn’t quite match premium Mini LED models—but these compromises are easy to accept at Rs 39,999.
For buyers looking for a feature-rich 55-inch smart TV without stretching into premium territory, the Xiaomi TV FX Mini LED 55 is an easy recommendation.
