Reach Opulent is a 5-inch smartphone, exclusively available on Shopclues at Rs 3,599. The device is comfortable to hold and gives a decent performance when it comes to multitasking. Given the price point, this is one of the cheapest smartphones available in the market.
Reach Opulent features a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash and 2 MP front camera, which is a pretty good deal, given the price. Additionally, it comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM on-board, which is expandable up to 32GB. We reviewed the device for a week, and here’s how it performed.
Specs: 5-inch HD IPS display | 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor | 1GB RAM | 8GB ROM | 5 MP rear camera + 2 MP front camera | 2,500 mAh battery | Android Lollipop 5.1
Price: Rs 3,599
What is good?
Remember, Reach Opulent costs only Rs 3,599. The smartphone has a good display, far better than what one would expect at this price-point. This might not be one of the most vivid displays, but it does the job well. Using the display in sunlight is however a struggle, so we’d not recommend the same.
The smartphone is comfortable to hold, given the small size and a plastic back. The device is not too thin, and won’t slip out of your hand easily. The navigation buttons are right below the display, and comfortable to use. The volume and power keys in Reach Opulent are placed on the left side, which needs a bit of getting used to.
We used the Smart Gesture in the smartphone, which worked fine for us. We could almost instantly lock and wake the screen by double tapping on it. The device supports two SIM slots, including a micro SIM, and a removable battery, which is great.
The phone isn’t good with multitasking, and yes you will face issues trying too hard to play even basic games like Candy Crush on it. The processor, however, isn’t a total let down when it comes to using apps like Facebook, WhatsApp or other chatting apps.
The battery in Reach Opulent is good enough to last easily for a day, with the limited multitasking that it allows. If your needs are restricted to browsing Facebook, using WhatsApp, mails and calling; the battery won’t really be an issue for you.
What is not good?
Reach Opulent features a 5MP rear camera, which can’t be called a good one, by any standards. To start with, the camera in the smartphone refuses to focus. Shots taken even in bright outdoors fail to reproduce good colours. The pictures look like they have been shot using a VGA camera. The image quality, again, is a big let down.
The 2 MP front camera can’t be used to take decent selfies. The pictures are downright blurry.
The smartphone is a bit bulky at 162 gm, which we disliked.
Reach Opulent makes for a good choice for those on a tight budget. If you’re not into watching a lot of videos, and your needs are limited to browsing Facebook and using WhatsApp; then I’d say go for this one. The smartphone looks good and packs a battery that will last for a day. The camera, however, isn’t the strongest point of Reach Opulent.
Not a lot of smartphones at this price point offer the kind of specs Reach Opulent is offering. But, we’d recommend you to go for a slightly higher priced Micromax Canvas Spark 3, which is much better at Rs 4,999.
