I think the OnePlus phones are the best value for money devices for those who like a bit of power in their pockets. The OnePlus Two for the same reason in one of the best budget devices in the market at the moment, offering great performance, a super camera and a 64G of storage.

I have been using the phone for well over a month and here is a review update.

Performance: The phone still does not so much as budge when you asked it to perform a heavy task, like playing a high end game. However, there is a lot of lag on the UI since the last update. At times I have to wait a few seconds for the screen swipe to happen. Initially, I thought it was because of some app, however nothing has been able to fix this.

Battery: Initially, the battery life was well over 12 hours. Since the last update, this has come down to about 8 hours. And while the phone was able to stay cool despite its Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the first build, with the latest update this ability seems to have been lost. The phones does heat up a bit, so much so that my son is afraid to touch it. And this means the phone loses battery in a hurry when it is heating up.

Camera: Still the best in business when it comes to Android phones. I have been able to click a few stunners and having this in my pocket gives me a lot of confidence as a journalist.

Others: The USB-type C is great to use as you don’t need to bother about how you pin it in. But you are pretty much dead if you forget to take the cord with you when you leave home. It has happened to me quite a bit and I have had no option but to switch sim to a backup phone — thankfully, I carry one in my bag at all times. I have even gone back home from office at times to get the charger on certain days. Buy an extra cable for sure with this phone.

Updates: I have had one large update since the launch. However, a host of issues have creeped up since. Also, there has been a small 8.9MB update waiting to be installed for the past couple of weeks. But this download has not be able to install despite my best efforts. It ends up with an error message at all times.
