With our busy lifestyles, the only time most of us get to listen to music is when we are working out or in the gym. This is why earphones meant to be used when you active, are becoming better with their audio quality.
Brainwavz Xfit XF200
Though relatively unknown in India, Brainwavz has been pushing quite a few new products here of late. Their latest is the Brainwavz Xfit XF200, which as the name suggests are fitness oriented earphones.
Specs: Drivers: Dynamic, 9 mm | Rated Impedance: 16 ohms | Frequency Range: 20 Hz ~ 20 kHz| Sensitivity: 95 dB at 1 mW |Rated Input Power: 10 mW |Cable: 1.4 m Y-Cord, Copper | Plug: 3.5 mm, Gold plated
Price: Rs 1699
The Xfit XF200 gives you a good fit, and stays in place whatever you are doing. This is thanks to a flexible grip that goes behind your ear lobes to give it a spectacle-like grip — a very common design for fitness earphones these days.
Xfit XF200 also comes with a microphone and remote in the right hand chord, above the Y. I personally like the remote on the Y, but the idea here is to keep the microphone near your mouth. So it offers good clarity for people who are tying to hear you on the other side of a call, even if you are on the sweaty side of a jog.
I was impressed by the audio quality of these earphones, especially because there is no bass boost here. The audio quality is crisp, yet rich, and I enjoyed listening to everything from Ghazals to country numbers by the Zac Brown Band.
Surprisingly, the XF200 worked well even for the kind of music I like to listen to when I am not on a jog. It worked well even for Yo-Yo Ma, which usually tries to intimidate your auditory senses with a wide array of sounds. You can try lounging with these earphones once you are done jogging.
Usually fitness earphones are too flashy for my taste, not this one. Also these handle sweat and moisture pretty well, without adding a layer of aquatic effects to the music.
Should you buy?
Brainwavz Xfit XF200 seems like a pretty good option for the most active among us. At Rs 1699, it costs just a fraction of the top end brand, but is not short on features in anyway.
