Facebook Messenger is the most downloaded app (59.6 million) of 2016 so far, says a report in SurveyMonkey. The site revealed data from SurveyMonkey Intelligence, which shows most-downloaded apps in the first six months of 2016 in the US. The detailed data has been collected from iOS and Android app stores. Pokemon GO app, however, isn’t on the list this time as it was released recently. The AR mobile game, which was unveiled on July 6, gained huge popularity across the world just within days of its launch. In fact, Pokémon GO app, in its first week, was downloaded more than any other app in the history on the Apple App Store.

Messenger was followed by Snapchat (54.5 million) and Facebook (45.8 million) apps bagging second and third positions. Snapchat has left behind the Facebook app in the first six months of 2016, thanks to its growing popularity. Instagram (40.4 million) and Color Switch (39.0 million) were fourth and fifth most downloaded apps in the US in 2016. Interestingly, Facebook-owned products including Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp dominated the top 15 slots with WhatsApp at 18.6 million downloads. Other most downloaded apps include Pandora at 27.3 million, YouTube at 22.9 million and Netflix at 21.3 million downloads.
