Reliance Communications’ app-to-app calling offer starts at Re 1: Report

According to an IANS report, the offer called ‘Call Drops Se Chutkaara’ (freedom from call drops) starts at an introductory price of Re one for 300 minutes of talk-time for 30 days. It is valid for the month of September only. After September, users can buy a data pack for Rs 39 which will give them 200 MB of data. The reports says this data “will be sufficient to make 300 minutes of talking”.

“We want Delhi to speak on data. Delhi NCR will get an India-first offer of 300 minutes of app-to-app talking. This will be valid for 30 days at just Re one — 10 minutes a day for 30 days,” said Gurdeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Consumer Business, Reliance Communications.

The ‘Call Drops Se Chutkaara’ offer will allow 4G LTE users to make calls worldwide through Whatsapp, FB Messenger, Skype, Google Hangouts, imo and Viber. According to Gurdeep Singh, nine out of 10 smartphone users are on apps.

According to a PTI report, claim Reliance Communications is said to be “evaluating” its options regarding the 700 Mhz band. The 700 Mhz band would be put on the block as part of India’s largest-ever spectrum auction, which starts October 1. “We are pan-India on 850 Mhz…but we are still evaluating our options,” Gurdeep said.

The government will put up a total of 2,354.55 megahertz of mobile frequencies for auction in all bands — 700 Mhz, 800 Mhz, 900 Mhz, 1800 Mhz, 2100 Mhz and 2300 Mhz. It  expects to raise at least Rs 64,000 crore from the spectrum auction.
