The overall PC shipment for Q2 2016 saw a growth of 7.2 per cent, says IDC. The total shipments stood at 2.14 million units, a 7.2 per cent growth over Q1 2016 but the numbers contracted 2.2 per cent over Q2 2015.
According to IDC, the numbers show subtle growth in consumer PC segment and extends a positive outlook to overall PC market in India. The overall consumer PC shipments stood at 1.05 million units, a quarter-on-quarter growth of 14.5 per cent over Q1 2016. The overall commercial PC market recorded shipments of 1.09 million units in Q2 2016, an increase of 1.1 per cent quarter-on-quarter compared to Q1 2016.
“Factors like increasing infrastructure spending and pro-active reforms agendas by the government has led to rise in business expectations,” said Manish Yadav, Senior Market Analyst, Client Devices, IDC India. He added, “With forthcoming benefits from the 7th Pay commission and increased budget allocation for rural India, coupled with a good monsoon the rural demand is anticipated to improve, while urban demand is steadily picking-up.”
HP reclaimed its top spot in the Indian PC market with a share of 28.4 per cent. HP saw a growth of 3.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter over Q1 2016. HP also dominates the consumer PC market with a share of 28.2 per cent at the end of Q2 2016, a growth of 2.7 per cent compared to Q1 2016. IDC says the growth is due to strong retail presence, competitive pricing and well spread partner covergae.

Dell took the second spot with a share of 22.2 per cent while Lenovo holds the third spot with 16.1 per cent share in the overall PC market. While Dell’s market share grew by 0.7 per cent, Lenovo saw a decline a 12.1 per cent quarter on quarter.
