On Wednesday, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) unveiled its first electric scooters, ACTIVA e: and QC1, at a launch event in Bengaluru. The announcement marks Honda’s official entry into India’s growing electric vehicle market. Pre-orders for both models will begin on January 1, 2025, with deliveries slated to commence in February 2025. While pricing details remain under wraps, Honda is expected to announce them in the coming weeks.

Tsutsumu Otani, managing director, president and CEO, HMSI, said “The introduction of ACTIVA e: and QC1 marks a defining step in our commitment to sustainable mobility in India. It is in line with Honda’s global ‘Triple Action to ZERO’ concept to realize carbon neutrality by 2050, which focuses on three areas: carbon neutrality, clean energy, and resource circulation.”

Amongst the two, the Honda ACTIVA e: comes with an easy-to-replace modular battery (can hold two 1.5 kWh capacity batteries) and can deliver a range of 102 km on a full charge. The ACTIVA e: has a top speed of 80 km/h with an acceleration of 0 to 60 km/h in 7.3 seconds, where users can switch between different modes––Econ, Standard and Sport––with varied performance and mileage.

The Honda ACTIVA e: is also backed by a Honda Power Pack Exchanger e: (BeX swapping stations), already live in Bengaluru and Delhi, and are coming soon to Mumbai.

The Honda QC1, on the other hand, has a fixed 1.5 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 80 km per charge, along with support for safety features like a 330-watt off-board home charger that comes with an auto-cut technology. The scooter can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 4 hours 30 minutes and it takes 6 hours 50 minutes for a full charge. It comes with two ride modes — Standard and Econ.

Both models are manufactured at HMSI’s Narsapura plant near Bengaluru and Honda is offering three years or 50,000 km warranty along with three free services for the first year.
