Google will update all the icons in its family of Play apps to provide a consistent look across the platform, it announced in a blog post. Google had, in October last year revamped its App store by introducing categories such as Apps and Games and Entertainment and sub-categories.
“Since launching Google Play four years ago, we’ve always had dedicated apps in addition to the Google Play store. Today, all our icons are getting an update to provide a consistent look across the entire family of Play apps,” Google said in its Android official blog post.
The Movies & TV, Games, Books and Newsstand buttons have not undergone a major change, except that they have been placed on a Play button (triangle) in slightly different colours. The headphones in the Play Music tab, has however been replaced with a symphony in a circle in orange colour.
The updated Google Play icons will start rolling out across various devices in the coming weeks. “We hope you’ll continue enjoying the Play family of products—now with a new look,” said Google.
