Facebook bug blamed for blocking users’ links, posts: report

A bug on Facebook that was blocking users from posting links to content outside has been fixed by the company.

A bug on Facebook that was blocking users from posting links to content outside has been fixed by the company. According to a report in The Verge, the bug which was first spotted on the Facebook developer forum.

On the forum, users commented that when they tried to post their links, a message from Facebook blocked their link, saying the content was unsafe.

One user noted, “My blog post can’t publish in Facebook Group and Pages. But i can post my Blog Homepage URL but not Post Link. When i try to publish my post on Facebook so this Popup Error Show “The content you’re trying to share includes a link that our security systems detected to be unsafe” Please tell me How Can I Fix That Problem ?”

Another user pointed out that even their paid posts had vanished. “All our posts yesterday pointed to a page and had the og:image:width and height tags. Those pages vanished for a little while yesterday and then came back and then all vanished. One was even a paid post. They’re still gone,” said the user.

One more user said, “My posts have been deleted and when I try to post again it says it’s deemed abusive. Is this a new bug?”

Facebook has now fixed the bug and a spokersperson for the company was quoted by The Verge as saying, “An error in our system that helps block bad links on Facebook incorrectly marked some URLs as malicious or inappropriate. As a result, some existing posts were hidden, while other posts were blocked completely. We’ve resolved the issue and the remaining affected URLs are being unblocked. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.”

Facebook’s Eugene Pan wrote on the page that they have a fix for the issue and currently the status on the page reads that Fix is ready.
