The YU Yutopia smartphone runs CyanogenMod OS with Android 5.1.1. The 4G smartphone features a 5.2-inch WQHD IPS Display from Sharp, a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32 GB storage space (expandable to 64GB).

Yutopia has also added a fingerprint scanner on the back and comes with 3000 mAh battery which supports fast-charging as well. The fingerprint scanner on the back can also be used to take selfies.
YU Yutopia is an all-metal smartphone and has a design language similar to that of the Yuphoria. Like Yuphoria, the power button is in the middle of the volume rockers and the camera is bang in the centre with a saturn ring pattern around.
YU has also announced a slew of new services called Around YU which will be in-built in the Yutopia device and rolled out to other YU devices as well. The company said that Saavn will be a default app in all YU Yutopia phones and users can download free songs on it for six months.
Around YU will appear when users swipe to the left-side of the homescreen and will show a bunch of services that they can access without opening different apps for each. Customers will be able to book flight-tickets, order food, browse for products to shop, check their PNR status, book cabs, hotels from Around YU.
The company also has some offers on Around YU where the users will get Rs 100 off on the first Cab ride they book from the service and the fourth ride will be free. There’s a 15 per cent off on the first food order placed from Around YU. Additionally, 500 users to book flights from Around YU will get a ticket for Rs 1 on the first trip (40 users every week).
For Around YU, the company has partnered with Zomato for food, Ola and TaxiForSure for cabs, Ixigo for flight tickets and hotels, and Scandid to show shopping products. The results from Scandid will show pricing for a particular product across various portals like Amazon or Snapdeal, etc. Micromax has investments in Ixigo and Scandid.
The service will also show hotel, flight tickets from other services like MakeMyTrip, Musafir, etc and cab services which are offline as well for those in smaller towns.
The idea with Around YU services is to showcase a bunch of options to customers in one place. YU says it could add more options to this service in the future, such as Health or Movie shows depending on a customer’s usage and needs. Customers will be able to make payments on Around YU itself although currently it will have a third-party payment gateway. With Yutopia, the company will provide onsite doorstep services as well, along with online support.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Rahul Sharma, Founder, YU Televentures said, “We are extremely euphoric to complete our first year with a bang as today’s launch reaffirms our promise of doing everything that’s exciting and new.
