Yu Yunique, Canvas Selfie 2, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge +, Motorola Moto X Play are some of the top smartphones, we have reviewed these past couple of weeks and here’s a quick recap of phones that impressed us.
Yu Yunique: Where budget Android goes, Yu Yunique gets it right like no other smartphone. Priced at Rs 4999, this phone has stock Android, a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage (expandable to 32GB) , 8MP camera with autofocus, LED flash, 2MP fixed focus front camera and a 2000mAh battery.
In our review, we liked the overall performance, long battery life and the audio quality.
The budget pricing of this smartphone, coupled with its strong performance makes this a must-add to the list of any budget smartphone buyer. Additionally this a 4G-ready phone. Read our full review here.

Canvas Selfie 2: Priced at Rs 5999, the Micromax Canvas Selfie 2 is all about what the name suggests: Selfies. It has a 5-inch (480x854p, ~196 ppi) LCD display, Octa-core 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6592 processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage (expandable up to 32GB) and 5MP rear camera + 5MP front camera. The battery is Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery and it runs Android Kitkat OS.
In our review, we felt that while seflies from the Canvas Selfie 2 were impressive, the big display with “paltry resolution” meant smaller pixel density and lot of pixel jarring. Overall while Micromax gets the price right, the phone didn’t impress too much. Read more here.
Moto X Play: With a 5.5-inch full HD, a 21 mp rear camera, a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core CPU and 2GB RAM and a 3,630 mAh battery, Motorola’s Moto X Play is one of the most talked about phones.
Plus it helps that Motorola priced this at Rs 18,999 in India for 16GB which gets an instant approval in a price-sensitive market like India.
In our review, we had noted that “Moto X Play can cater to most of the performance needs…In general, users can expect a lag-free experience. The device is surprisingly fast and should be able to satisfy the performance needs of most users.” Read our full review here.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+: If you’re looking for a high-end premium smartphone with budget no bar, then the iPhone is no longer your only choice. Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ with its premium looks and dual-edge screen definitely impressed us during the review.
As we noted in our review, Samsung has given the S6 edge+ a stunning display, and our reviewer used this phone “for writing stories to shooting and sharing video and, of course, posting all sorts of stuff on social media,” and “the phone never complained.” It works well and has a stunning 16 mp camera as well. Meizu MX5: The Meizu MX5 is priced at Rs 19,999 with a 5.5 inch AMOLED (1080x1920p, ~401 ppi), Octa-core 2.2 GHz Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB storage and 20.7MP rear camera with 3150 mAh battery with fast charging.
The Meizu MX5 is power-packed performer and you should not expect any issues with the phone. Additionally the 20 megapixel camera is definitely one of the best in Android and there are a host of settings a user can tinker with, as we had noted in our review.
