Xiaomi is holding a product launch event in China, where it could introduce the Redmi Note 6 series. The invitation to the phone’s launch has appeared on Weibo (via BGR India), which says the phone will launch at 2pm on November 6 in China. It’s been said that Xiaomi may release the device ahead of the ‘Singles Day’ online shopping festival in China. This is the first time Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 6.
Xiaomi, the world’s fourth-largest smartphone maker by sales, has already launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in Thailand. We expect both the Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi Note 6 will be launched on November 6 in the company’s home market. The Redmi Note 6 will succeed the Redmi Note 5, which was introduced towards the end of last year in China. The popular phone made its India debut at the beginning of this year, where it costs Rs 9999.
At the moment, we do not know the exact specifications and features of the Redmi Note 6. That being said, we expect the device to be a mid-end device, like its predecessor. Expect the phone to have a notched display, a Qualcomm-made Snapdragon processor, dual rear-facing cameras, and a much bigger battery life. The phone should come in multiple RAM and storage options.
Xiaomi, which is often referred to as the “Apple of China”, has been growing its footprint globally. In India, for that matter, the company continues to be the number one smartphone player. According to the research firm Canalys, Xiaomi has shipped over 12 million smartphones in the third quarter of 2018. Samsung, in comparison, managed to ship 9.3 million units in India in the same quarter.
