Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 official launch is set for October 25 in China. The successor to Mi Mix 2, which was released last year could be the first smartphone to support 5G connectivity, 10GB RAM and sport close to 100 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Though the company has not explicitly revealed details of its upcoming device, it has put out several teasers that give us a hint of its features. We are also seeing more leaks around Mi Mix 3 ahead of official launch. Let us take look at everything we know about Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3 so far:
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 launch: Near bezel-less slide-out display
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will feature a slide-out display and this was showcased in an official teaser video. The video also highlights how the screen can be slid to reveal a dual front camera configuration on top. If one goes by the video, this could be the first Mi Mix phone to sport front cameras on top of the screen, compared to bottom selfie camera lens on the previous-generation Mi Mix devices.
When the user slides the display down, it will apparently turn on the display and reveal the dual front camera setup. This has made it possible for the company to work on a completely bezel-less display onto the smartphone. Mi Mix 3 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display, with a screen-to-body ratio nearing 100 per cent. One can also expect an in-display fingerprint sensor, following in the footsteps of Mi 8.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 launch: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 10GB RAM
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is speculated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, though this has not been confirmed by the company. As per a report by GSMArena, which claims to have accessed an image from China that reveals the phone’s specifications, the number ‘855’ on it indicates that Mi Mix 3 could run the unannounced Snapdragon 855 processor. Qualcomm is yet to confirm the name of this processor, which could also be called Snapdragon 8150.
Meanwhile, 10GB RAM for Mi Mix 3 has been confirmed by the company. In a teaser on Twitter, Xiaomi’s head of product management, Donovan Sung hinted at 10GB RAM as well as 5G support for Mi Mix 3.

The 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage options will be priced at $600 (Rs 42,700 approx.) and $645 (Rs 45,900 approx.) respectively.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: 5G connectivity support
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has official teasers suggest 5G connectivity support for the phone. Notably, the upcoming Snapdragon processor will feature external support for 5G, hinting the phone’s hardware will include components to manage 5G networks.
While most companies have plans to launch 5G-capable smartphones, a majority of them will only hit the market in mid-2019. If Xiaomi launches the Mi Mix 3 with 5G connectivity, it could be the world’s first smartphone to support 5G networks.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: Dual rear cameras, 18W fast charging support
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is speculated to come with a retractable module to hold the phone’s cameras. The handset is likely to feature dual camera setup, comprising of a 16MP primary sensor and a 13MP rear shooter. At the front, we can expect the phone to sport a 20MP selfie camera. The phone has been confirmed to support slow motion videos shot at 960fps. Mi Mix 3 could pack a 3,750mAh battery and support 18W fast charging technology.
