Samsung Galaxy Note 4 launched at Rs 58,300, Gear S at Rs 29,000

The pricing is premium, reiterating Samsung's premium playing for the Note 4.

Samsung launches Galaxy Note 4 and Gear S in India The Galaxy Note 4 will sell at Rs 58,300 while the Gear S will be available at Rs 29,000 in India.

Samsung on Tuesday launched the Galaxy Note 4 flagship smartphone and the Gear S smartwatch in India underlining the premium tag of the devices. The Galaxy Note 4 is coming to India a month after its global launch at the IFA 2014 in Berlin. The Galaxy Note 4 will sell at Rs 58,300 while the Gear S will be available at Rs 29,000 in India. The Note 4 will be available from October 17.

The Galaxy The pricing is premium, reiterating Samsung’s premium playing for the Note 4. It has not kept the price low to take on the competition from other flagship like the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus or the Sony Xperia Z3.

Samsung is banking on the Quad HD screen, multi-window option and the new S Pen features to differentiate the Note 4 from rivals as well as the older Note 3 phone. In fact, the availability of full function stylus, the S Pen, is USP of the phone. There are no other phones that let you use a stylus with the ease of the Note 4. It now comes with better pressure sensitivity giving an experience as close to actual pen and paper as possible.

The Galaxy Note 4 also comes with smart charging that lets you charge till 50 per cent in 30 minutes. Also, the battery gives more despite the screen being more resource intensive. The phone will come with Swarovski covers, though Samsung did not announce the Mont Blanc covers and stylus for the India market.

The Gear S, meanwhile, takes the smart watch story to the next level by adding a curved Super AMOLED screen that wraps around the user’s wrist. It also has a SIM slot that, which means it can be used independent of at Galaxy device like in the earlier versions. The Gear S is based on Samsung’s new Tizen operating system. It too comes with Swarovski straps.

Samsung has also launched a rewards scheme for customers with a My Samsung Rewards app. Samsung has 180 million Galaxy users in India who will benefit from the scheme which has 60 member brands.

Samsung has not launched the innovative Note Edge and Gear VR in India. The company announced that the Edge Will be available at a later date.
