Reliance Jio 4G SIM cards seem to be in high demand, thanks to a huge hype created around the service. We had earlier reported that people are crowding Reliance Digital stores and Xpress Mini store in hopes of getting free Jio SIM, but it is a three-week wait (or more). Now, according to Telecomtalk.info, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will start taking online registration for its free SIM cards to deliver the same to customer’s doorsteps. “After that the Jio SIM card would delivered to the applicant’s address in 5-7 days,” the site says. The website quoted official sources who said the service has already been tested and ready to be rolled out in metro cities.
Reliance Jio 4G SIM card is free of cost and comes with the company’s ‘welcome offer’, which will give users an access to free unlimited data till December 31,2016. Another reason for the huge demand of Jio SIM card is that all voice calls on the network are free and roaming charges within India has been dropped. In our case, we had to wait in a long queue for quite some time before we could register for Jio SIM. We were required to submit our id proof, address proof, photographs etc at the store only to come and collect the Jio SIM card three weeks later.
Reliance Jio 4G SIM card gives users free access to Jio apps as well. These include JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioPlay, JioMags, JioMoney and more. The ‘welcome offer’ was rolled out on September 5 and customers will be charged for Jio 4G services from January 1, 2017. However, voice calls and roaming within India will be free forever for Jio users. RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani, at company’s annual shareholders’ meeting, had said it aims to bring in 100 million people on-board. The huge demand for Jio SIM is only obvious.
