OnePlus starts rolling out OxygenOS 5.1.6 bringing Project Treble support to OnePlus 5, 5T

OxygenOS 5.1.6 adds support for Idea Cellular VoLTE in India, Project Treble and Bluetooth stability improvements for phone calls.

OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 5.1.6 update paired with Android’s October 2018 security patch for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T according to a report by TelecomTalk. The update adds support for Project Treble and Idea VoLTE in India. The company is currently rolling out the update in a phased manner across the globe, which means you might have to wait a bit to receive the notification on your smartphone.

According to the update’s changelog, OxygenOS 5.1.6 adds support for Idea Cellular VoLTE in India, Project Treble and Bluetooth stability improvements for phone calls. The update is paired with Android’s latest October 2018 security patch.

OnePlus has stated that to install OxygenOS 5.1.6, users have to have the previous version, OxygenOS 5.1.5 installed on their smartphones. To check for updates users will have to go to the settings panel of the device, where they will then be required to open the system tab, and then press the check for updates button.

For now, it not clear when OnePlus will roll out Android Pie updates to the 5, 5T models. The company has promised two years of dedicated updates for its phones. Meanwhile OnePlus is getting ready to launch the OnePlus 6T smartphone in New York on October 29.

OnePlus India has also partnered with Reliance Digital to make OnePlus devices available offline via Reliance Digital outlets. This partnership will start with the launch of OnePlus 6T in India. Currently, consumers can purchase OnePlus devices online via Amazon, OnePlus’s official web-store and offline via OnePlus experience stores. Under the new deal, OnePlus devices will be available at all Reliance Digital stores across India at the same price they are available online.
