Meizu appears to be ready to compete with Xiaomi and its Mi Mix edgeless smartphone, according to leaks. Meizu’s upcoming Pro 7 smartphone could also feature a borderless design. Leaked images of the phone were spotted on Chinese networking website Weibo. According to reports, it will feature a 5.62-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution.

Meizu Pro 7 is powered by a Helio X25 processor and coupled with 6GB RAM along with 64GB/128GB of internal storage. Meizu Pro 7 comes with mCharge 4.0 that can reportedly charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent in just 40 minutes. The phone is expected to be fitted with an ultrasonic biometric fingerprint scanner, which allows the user to place their finger on the display to unlock the device.

According to the leaked images shared by @KJuma, Meizu Pro 7 comes with a very high screen-to-body ratio (that appears to be close to 100 per cent), considering the phone features a pop-up front 8MP camera. Xiaomi Mi Mix boasts a 91.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio with its front camera placed on the bottom bezel of the phone.

Meizu Pro 7 will be launched on December 24, 2016, according to the report. The 6GB RAM/ 64GB ROM variant will be priced at 2,699 Yuan (approx Rs 26,700), whereas the 6GB RAM/ 128GB ROM version will be priced at 3,099 Yuan (approx Rs 30,600).

There is an inherent risk involved with bezel less display phones, which can break after falling down. Earlier this month, a user in China dropped a Mi Mix testing unit and the ceramic frame of the phone came off while the display was totally cracked. While screen damage can happen to any smartphone, the problem increases with edgeless designs.

The primary camera is 12MP, while the front camera is 5MP.
