LG V20, a new smartphone from the company will launch on September 6 this year, and according to the official announcement, it will come with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The LG V20 is the successor of the LG V10, which was launched in 2015 and featured a dual-screen. The phone also featured a front camera with a 120-degree wide-angle lens, to capture a larger group in a selfie. LG has planned a 4-day event in San Francisco for September 6. LG V20 is the first phone that has been announced with Android v7.0 Nougat right out of the box. The tagline in the Press Invite states, “The second story begins”.
LG is trying to lift its struggling mobile business after lower-than-expected sales of the LG G5, that was launched in March this year. LG’s mobile business has reported its fifth straight quarter of operating loss from April to June quarter. LG last week, said that the successor of the V10 will help improve the company’s sale and improve its third quarter earnings for the current fiscal year.
“We are excited to offer the first phone in the world to feature Nougat out of the box,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. “The LG V20 upgrades and extends its predecessor’s cutting-edge multimedia features a step further, providing distinctive mobile experience and sets a new standard for premium phones for consumers.”
LG V20 will feature a 5.7-inch screen (similar size to the V10) with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution at 515 ppi pixel density, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The secondary display will be 2.1-inches, and have a resolution of 160 x 1040 pixels. The phone will run on a Snapdragon 820 chipset, coupled with an Andreno 530 GPU. The primary camera will be 20MP, while the front shooter will be 8MP. LG V20 will feature a finger print scanner and will be backed by a 4000 mAh battery.
LG V20 might be launched on September 6, but it may not hit the stores until sometime later in September, allowing Google to officially unveil Android “Nougat”. Android Nougat will bring “Doze on the Go”, a feature that will let the phone enter battery saver mode as soon as the phone’s screen is turned off. The notifications bar has also been revamped to bear a more minimalist and clean look. Nougat will also bring Multi-window feature in Android phones.
