The LG G4 flagship is now out and while there is no confirmation on when it will come to India (LG is already rolling it out in Korea), this device will could be one of the Samsung Galaxy S6 challengers, at least where the premium Android market is concerned.

We take a quick look the tech specifications and special features between the two flagship Android devices from LG and Samsung.

Design, Screen: Remember the Galaxy Note 4’s faux leather back? Well, LG has gone a step ahead and introduced a real leather back, which it calls as “full grain leather“. The smartphone comes in six colours and according to LG, “vegetable tanned leather” is environmentally friendly and can be recycled easily. If you’re not so keen on a leather back, then there’s other material options as well. These are “pure Ceramic White with 3D patterns, artisan-forged Metallic Gray as well lustrous, Shiny Gold.

In terms of design, the LG G has the Slim Arc design, which according to the company offers “20 percent better durability than a flat smartphone in face-down drops.” It also follows the same LG style for setting the buttons, as the power and volume buttons are located in the back below the rear camera lens.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 has a metal frame and glass body both on back and front. If you don’t care for leather on the back, the S6 is definitely one of the best-designed smartphones to have been released by Samsung. It’s 6.8mm thin and weighs only 138 g, while LG G4 is 155 g and is between 6.3-9.8mm in thickness, so the Galaxy S6 wins on being lighter and thinner.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 as we noted in our review is lightweight and stylish and the resemblance to the iPhone 6 is hard to miss.

Processor, Space, RAM: :LG G4 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Processor with X10 LTE. The processor is a hexa-core one clocked at 1.8 GHz and comes with Adreno 418 GPU.

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 has a Samsung Exynos 64-bit Octa Core (Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57), which we had seen in our review ensured a power-packed performance for the Galaxy S6, although it tends to heat up as well.

Battery, Camera: LG G4 has a 3,000mAh (removable) battery, which is a big plus. The Samsung Galaxy S6 on the other hand has a 2550mAh battery which can’t be removed. While LG is promising a day’s worth of battery life with the LG G4, in our tests the Galaxy S6 easily lasted for 24 hours with regular use.

In Samsung Galaxy S6’s case though you can charge the smartphone for up to 4 hours of battery life in just 10 minutes. We’ll have to wait and see how LG G4 does on the battery front.

The LG G4 has a 16 megapixel rear camera with OIS 2.0 for more stability and LG is promising better low-light performance as well. There’s an 8 megapixel camera on the front as well.
