LeEco has announced the availability of the Le 2 in a grey colour variant in India soon. The Chinese technology company had launched the Le 2 in India with only a Rose Gold option in June. Flipkart now shows the option of a grey-coloured Le 2 on the website, with a “Coming Soon” tag on the link. The grey variant is priced the same as the rose gold one, at Rs 11,999.
The introduction of a new colour variant for Le 2 is an important step taken by the company. This opens the phone up to a market of people who do not want their phone to be pink. It is likely that LeEco will launch other colour options for the phone, and possibly introduce more colours for the Le Max2 as well.
LeEco Le 2 was launched in April 2016, but the Pro version of the phone has not yet launched in India. Le 2 was launched in order to build on LeEco’s success of selling the Le 1s in India. Within a month of the launch, LeEco claimed to have sold 61,000 units of both phones thanks to flash sales on LeMall.com and Flipkart. The total registration of the phones reached over 6 lakh units.
LeEco Le 2 features a 5.5-inch Full HD LCD display that is powered by an Octa-core 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. The phone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB non-expandable storage. Le 2 is backed by a 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery that supports USB Type-C with Quick Charge 2.0. The phone runs Android Marshmallow. It comes with LeEco’s content integration with Live TV streams from Yupp TV and the company’s own Leividi app, which is a curation of YouTube videos.
In our review of the device, we found that the camera is fast and the battery will last a user a good full day of use. The display of the phone is extremely crisp, and provides a vibrant colour reproduction, while giving good viewing angles. What we did not like about the phone was the slow app arrangement of the device, and kernal issues that made it difficult for third-party apps to work well.
