Lava Icon announced at Rs 11,990, comes with Star OS

Lava has now joined the custom Android bandwagon in the budget smartphone segment. The company today unveiled its Icon smartphone which runs Star OS based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

The device runs on a 1.3 GHz MediaTek (MT6582) quad-core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM which can be expandable up to 32GB. It sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with Asahi Dragon-Trail glass protection along with a 13 MP rear camera with SONY EXMOR sensor and a 5 MP front camera with Omni vision sensor.

The Icon is powered by a 2,500 mAh battery. On the connectivity front, the Icon offers 3G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, dual SIM and Bluetooth.

Lava boasts that its Icon smartphone offers a superior camera performace with F2.0 aperture, 5P lens for low light photography and better color reproduction. On the software front, the UI is very similar to Android KitKat. “We are still developing Star OS and this is just the beginning. In first version of Star Os mostly focuses on adding more software capabilities to the camera,” said Nitin Verma, product manager, Lava International.

Priced at Rs 11,990, the Lava Icon smartphone will be available exclusively on Snapdeal.com for online customers along with brick and mortar stores across the country. Snapdeal will be offering a free selfie stick to all consumers ordering from Snapdeal.com
