Huawei Mate 20 Pro India launch is set for November 27, according to a report by news agency IANS. Huawei’s Mate 20 series was launched at a special launch event in London last month and it also includes Mate 20, Mate 20X as well as Mate 20 RS smartphones. However, it looks like the company will only be bringing Mate 20 Pro to the Indian market for now. The phone will likely be Amazon exclusive in India as the e-commerce site has put up a ‘notify me’ page on its platform.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro is a flagship smartphone, priced at EUR 1049 (or approx Rs 89,310) and it competes with the likes of Apple iPhone XS Max, Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The India price is expected to remain premium and in the vicinity of Rs 80,000. The phone has triple rear cameras and is powered by 7nm Kirin 980 processor, said to be 5G-ready. It gets a 6.39-inch curved OLED, 2K+ display with a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the display.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro features Leica-branded triple camera setup, a combination of a 40MP wide-angle 27mm lens with f/1.8 aperture, 20MP ultra-wide angle 16mm camera with f/2.2 aperture and 8MP 3x telephoto 80mm lens with f/2.4 aperture and OIS. The front camera on the Mate 20 Pro is a 24MP with f/2.0 aperture.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro is powered by the Kirin 980 processor coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The company has introduced a new nanoSD card format for expandable storage. The phone is backed by a 4200mAh battery with a 40W Huawei SuperCharge charger. Another highlight is the wireless charging pad that is embedded into the back of the Mate 20 Pro, which allows users to charge any device that supports wireless charging.
Similar to the iPhone XS, the Mate 20 Pro uses an infrared 3D facial recognition system to unlock the device. The handset runs on the company’s latest EMUI 9, based on Android 9.0 Pie. Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be available in five color options: Emerald Green, Midnight Blue, Twilight, Pink Gold, and Black.
