Google has announced new Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones running latest Android Marshmallow. Google Nexus 6P starts at $499 while Nexus 5X starts at $379. Google has confirmed that Nexus 6P will be available starting mid-October at Rs 39,999 for the 32GB variant.
Nexus 6P is a spiritual successor to last year’s Nexus 6. The display is now smaller at 5.7-inches but comes with metal unibody design. While Google didn’t speak much about the construction, it needs to be noted that flagship smartphone is now made by Huawei.
Nexus 6P boasts of WQHD AMOLED display and is 7.3mm thick. Google says Nexus 6P comes with a 12.3-megapixel Sony image sensor that is 1.55 microns in size. Google emphasises that the phone has larger pixels than competing devices including iPhone. Google says it’s flagship can take better pictures in low-light and is capable of recording native 4K videos. The front camera is an 8-megapixel one.
Google didn’t speak much about the internals of the device but according to Wired, the Nexus 6P is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB RAM and comes with a huge 3,450mAh battery.
The pre-orders for the device begins today with shipping expected in late October. Nexus 6P starts at $499 for a 32GB variants while a 64GB model will set you back by $549. The 128GB model starts at $649 and will be available in White, Silver and Black colour options.
Google Nexus 6P comes with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner and supports Nexus imprint which adds native support for fingerprint sensor with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Google also announced that Nexus 6P will support its Fi network in US and spending $89 gives you Nexus Protect feature which offers two years warranty and covers accidental damage.
