On Monday, Xiaomi released its Mi electric scooter on MiJia crowdfunding platform. Boasting a unique foldable design, the electric scooter will be available in China in two color options: black and white. It has been priced at RMB 1999 (or approx Rs 19,500) and will start selling in China from December 15.
Xiaomi Mi electric scooter has been made from aircraft-grade aluminum and weighs 12.5kg. Perhaps the highlight of the Mi electric scooter is that it is foldable at the press of a button. Xiaomi says it will take just 3 seconds to fold the scooter, meaning you can easily store or carry the scooter.
The electric scooter has a top speed of 25kmph and comes with LG 1850 Ev-lithium ion cell with a battery capacity of 280 Wh and offer instantaneous maximum power up to 500 W. The electric scooter also comes with a dual-brake system. The front wheel has E-ABS anti-lock system, while the rear wheel uses mechanical disk brake.
Interestingly, the Mi electric scooter has a Kinetic Energy recovery system that converts kinetic energy into electric energy and offers a better battery life. But that’s not the end of the story. Xiaomi’s Mi electric scooter is smart – after all it can be controlled using a companion smartphone. Users can easily pair the Mi electric scooter via an app that lets it track cycling habits, riding speed, and battery life etc.
Xiaomi has been expanding its Mi ecosystem by adding water purifiers, smart rice cookers and smart TVs, to name a few. Xiaomi in the past introduced its self-balancing scooter Ninebot Mini, and followed by the Qicycle electric bike in June this year.
