CoWatch, the Indiegogo based smartwatch project is now available for sale. CoWatch, which runs Android Wear like many other smartwatches also has Alexa built-in. Alexa is the digital assistant developed by Amazon.
CoWatch is the first smartwatch to feature Alexa virtual assistant. Alexa, which made its debut as an intelligent virtual assistant on Amazon’s Echo speaker, is now being made available to third party vendors. Amazon has been expanding the availability of Alexa to third party speaker makers like Sonos and Denon. But it is the first time we have Alexa speak from a smartwatch.
CoWatch features a 42mm watch face which might seem big for many and it comes with a 12mm thick metal body. CoWatch uses stainless steel and zirconia ceramic body and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The smartwatch comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB flash memory. The display is a 400 x 400 pixel super AMOLED one, ensuring high resolution.
As far as sensors are concerned, CoWatch comes with gyrometer, accelerometer and magnetometer. It also adds a heart rate sensor and a vibro motor. The CoWatch is water resistant and runs Cronologics OS based on Android. The watch is compatible with Apple devices running iOS 9 and above and Android smartphones running Lollipop and later. With Alexa integration, CoWatch can hail an Uber, play Spotify music, order a Dominos Pizza, listen to Kindle books and even control your smart home.
CoWatch, which was initially set to go on sale from June is now finally available on Amazon. The smartwatch is priced at $279 (approximately Rs 19,000) for the silver variant while the black colour model is priced at $299 (approximately Rs 20,000).
