Apple’s new iPad Pro and MacBook Air were revealed at the company’s October 2018 keynote, which took place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York. Apple iPad Pro 2018 has launched in two sizes — 11-inches and 12.9-inches. The key highlight of the new iPad Pro is that it comes with Face ID support, and is powered by the A12X Bionic processor.
Meanwhile, Apple’s new MacBook Air features a 13.3-inch Retina Display and comes with Touch ID support. Here are all the details of Apple’s new iPad Pro 2018 model and MacBook Air.
Apple iPad Pro 2018: Specifications, features and price
Apple iPad Pro 2018 now features an edge-to-edge Liquid Retina display. The new iPad comes in two variants one with an 11-inch screen, and another with a 12.9-inch screen. The 11-inch iPad Pro model has a similar footprint as the previous 10.5-inch iPad model. It is 15 per cent thinner compared to the previous iteration, and has 25 per cent less volume.
The new iPad Pro now supports Face ID which works both in landscape and portrait mode. The native camera app comes with Animoji, Memoji and Group FaceTime features. Apple has also ditched the Home Button on the new iPad Pro.
The new iPad Pro runs Apple’s A12X Bionic chipset with a more powerful neural engine which offers faster performance and brings improved machine learning and AI-task processing to the tablet. The new iPad Pro 2018 includes 7-core GPU and 8-core CPU and up to 1TGB storage capacity.

This time around Apple has opted for Type-C USB port instead of the Lighting port found on the previous iteration. The USB-C connectivity will enable users to connect 5K monitors. The graphics performance has been doubled compared to the last generation to deliver ‘XBox One S-class graphics’ performance, as per the company.
Apple has introduced a revamped Apple Pencil 2 as well, which sticks to the iPad Pro body magnetically and can be charged wirelessly while attached to the iPad Pro. Apple Pencil 2 enables smooth switching of notes with simple tap twice on the pencil.
Apple iPad Pro 11-inch model starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch model starts at $999. Both models will be available from November 7. There’s no word on when the 2018 iPads will come to India, though it will be later in the year, according to Apple’s official press statement.
Apple’s new MacBook Air: Specifications, features and price
Apple’s new MacBook Air 2 features a 13.3-inch Retina Display with minimal bezels surrounding the corners. The screen on the new MacBook Air has four times resolution with four million pixels to offer more detail and 48 per cent more colour reproduction. MacBook Air’s Touch ID is powered by Apple’s T2 security chip.
The new MacBook Air sports Apple’s third-generation butterfly mechanism keyboard, and Force Touch keypad that comes with 20 per cent larger area. The laptop features high-fidelity Stereo speakers, which are 25 per cent louder compared to the previous version, and include three mic array to provide improved recognition of Siri.
Apple MacBook Air 2 feature Intel’s latest 8th gen dual-core CPU, up to 16GB memory and up to 1.5TB SSD storage capacity, a 60 per cent boost compared to the previous iteration.
The laptop includes two Thunderbolt ports and it offers up to 13 hours of battery life. The MagSafe charger from the older MacBook Air is now gone.
Apple MacBook Air 2 has 17 per cent less volume than the predecessor, and at 15.6mm is 10 per cent thinner than the previous generation device. It weighs 2.75 pounds (1.24kg). More so, Apple announced that all MacBook Air laptops are built from 100 per cent recycled aluminium, making it the greenest MacBook ever.
The all-new MacBook Air 2 has been priced at $1199 and it is up for pre-order from today. The new Apple MacBook will be available starting November 7. The new MacBook Air should come to India by the end of the year.
