Apple is reportedly developing new software for the iPad along with the new lineup of Mac laptops and desktops, reports Bloomberg. According to Bloomberg, Apple is currently working on new software features for iPad that would make it more suitable for professional needs. Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro announced in November with A9X chipset was the most powerful device at that time.
Apple is also likely working on a new range of Mac devices, including iMac, MacBook Air, a thinner MacBook Pro and a standalone 5K display. Bloomberg reports that the 5K display is being developed in collaboration with LG. Earlier, there were rumours that Apple will announce updated MacBook Pro at company’s annual developer conference. Apple is reportedly working on a thinner MacBook Pro with a touch-enabled row at the top replacing the function keys.
According to sources quoted by Bloomberg, the feature is being internally called as ‘Dynamic Function Row’. Apple is also likely to update the graphics processor with new AMD chipset and introduce USB-C ports like the 12-inch MacBook. Apple is also set to bring new graphics processor and USB-C port to its MacBook Air lineup. MacBook Air lineup has not seen an update for quite a long time and Apple could finally introduce new design and internals.
Bloomberg also adds that Apple is focussed on introducing new software features to the iPad Pro lineup. The features could be announced as part of iOS update or rolled out separately. Apple is already pitching the iPad Pro as the most powerful computer and it is trying to make Apple Pencil feature rich. According to KGI securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is also working on new version of iPad Pro with faster display for smoother scrolling and panning. In a recent research note, Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple is working on a iPad Pro with 10.5-inch display.
