Google Bard to take over human jobs? Chatbot’s epic response will allay your fears

Google’s chatbot Bard seems to be the flavour of the month. Ever since Alphabet Inc. demonstrated the astounding capabilities of the chatbot at the I/O event, Google Bard seems to be winning admirers. 

Launched in March as a rival to OpenAI’s sensational chatbot ChatGPT, Google Bard has been endowed with some incredible features and is now open to over 180 countries and territories. 

Google’s chatbot is fast and offers highly-comprehensive responses to prompts. As the AI arms race is intensifying, a question that seems daunting and looming across industries is about the potential job losses owing to the rapid pace of developments in AI.

We asked Google Bard some questions that have been plaguing mankind ever since the dawn of AI. Here’s what we found out. 

Will Google Bard cause job loss for humans?

Cut to the chase, we began with the most pertinent question. Bard in its response said that it is possible that it could cause job loss for humans in some occupations. It said that it was capable of automating tasks that are currently performed by customer service representatives, data-entry clerks, and writers. 

However, Bard added that it is also quite possible that it could create some jobs such as assisting in product and services development, offering new educational and training opportunities. The chatbot, however, asserted that its overall impact on jobs is difficult to predict. 

“It is likely that Bard will have both positive and negative effects on employment, and the net effect will depend on a variety of factors, including the pace of technological innovation and the ability of humans to adapt to new technologies,” said the chatbot.

Elaborating further in its response, Bard went on to list some of its tasks that could impact employment. The chatbot could automate tasks that can be performed by humans, and it could also create jobs that would require human interaction, creativity and problem-solving. Google Bard could also lead to increased productivity economic growth leading to more jobs in other occupations and industries. 

“It is important to note that the impact of Google Bard on employment is still uncertain. It is possible that Bard will have a significant impact on employment, but it is also possible that its impact will be relatively minor. Only time will tell what the true impact of Bard will be,” said the chatbot.

What will be some of the most trending jobs in 2024?

Next, we asked Google Bard to list the most trending jobs in 2024. The Google chatbot listed Artificial intelligence engineer, Data scientist, Cybersecurity specialist, Cloud computing engineer, Software engineer, Web developer, UX designer, Content writer, Marketing manager, Sales representative, as jobs that will be in great demand in 2024. 

“These are just a few of the most trending jobs in 2024. If you are looking for a job in 2024, I recommend that you consider one of these trending jobs. They offer great opportunities for growth and advancement, and they are in high demand,” said the bot.

Advice to jobseekers

When asked about its advice to future jobseekers, Google Bard said that job seekers should be prepared for the future which means being adaptable, willing to learn new skills, and the ability to think creatively. 

Here are some specific tips for future jobseekers:

  1. Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in your field.
  2. Network with people in your field and learn from their experiences.
  3. Be willing to take on new challenges and to learn new skills.
  4. Be creative and think outside the box.
  5. Use technology to your advantage.

Additionally the chatbot also advised jobseekers to be proactive, persistent, positive and to be themselves in their pursuit of professional careers.
