WWE champion Brock Lesnar has been issued a challenge for Wrestlemania 36 by none other than Gypsy King Tyson Fury.
Fury, who was a guest on the latest episode of Corey Graves’ “After the Bell” podcast said that he was no in no mood to give up on his pro-wrestling dreams and his next battle could be against the Beast Incarnate.
“Hopefully you see me in the ring again,” Fury replied. “I want to fight Brock Lesnar next. One clip from the Gypsy King and he’ll wake up in Tokyo,” said Fury.
“It may happen at WrestleMania in Florida,” he added.
Fury made an impressive WWE debut at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia where he beat Braun Strowman via count-out.
The boxing lineal heavyweight champion of the world followed the footsteps of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather into the world of WWE from boxing.
Interestingly, Dave Meltzer reports that the original plan for Fury was to face Lesnar at Crown Jewel.
However, that plan was put to rest when Cain Velasquez became available.
“According to those internally, Lesnar vs. Fury was discussed but never got past early discussions, likely due to Velasquez having the storyline from the past and being the bigger star in the U.S. market, which is WWE’s primary market, and for Saudi Arabia, it wasn’t the matchups that were important as much as delivering matches with Fury and Velasquez.”
Fury will appear on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown from Manchester.
