Federer, Nadal and Murray storm into Rd 2; Kvitova starts title defence with domintaing win.

The greatest Grand Slam, Wimbledon, entres its second day on Tuesday where the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and local lad Andy Murray began their campaign in the men’s singles. Jo-Wilfred Tsonga will also be in action. In the women’s singles, defending champion Petra Kvitova will also begin her title defence on Tuesday. Feliciano Lopez (Esp) def. Steve Darcis (Bel) 6-2, 7-6(4), 6-4

* Andy Murray has raced to a two set lead against Kukushkin. Trails 0-1 in set three!

* Tsonga holds nerves to win a marathon first round match against Muller 7-6(8), 6-7(3), 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

* Rafael Nadal is away with a 6-2 6-4 6-4 win against Thomaz Bellucci in Round 1

* Sensational Swiss! Roger Federer begins his quest for his 8th Wimbledon title with a 6-1 6-3 6-3 win over Dzumhur.

* Nadal wins the second set 6-2 against Bellucci. One to go and he will be in the second round.

Umbrellas up at Wimbledon – to keep the sun off

As is so often the case, the weather was the number one topic of conversation at Wimbledon on Tuesday but for once it was not the prospect of rain that brought out the umbrellas but a beating sun on what was forecast to be the hottest day of the year. FULL READ

* Roger Federer wins first set 6-1 against Dzumhur in only 18 minutes!

* Tsonga wins the third set 6-4! Muller trails 1-2 as it moves into the 4th set now.

* Rafael Nadal win the first set against Thomaz Bellucci 6-4! A bit scrappy but positive play from Nadal.

* Petra Kvitova takes only 35 minutes to seal a 6-1, 6-0 over Kiki Bertens. What a performance! 

Petra Kvitova opened defense of her Wimbledon title on Tuesday with a dominant performance on Centre Court.

The 2nd-seeded Czech lost only one point on serve as she beat Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands 6-1, 6-0 in less than an hour.

The only point that Kvitova dropped on serve came when she double-faulted on the first point of the final game.

* In the women’s singles, defending champion Petra Kvitova is up 6-1, 5-0 against Bertens.

*G Muller takes the second set against Tsonga 7-6(3) to tie it at 1-1. Some brilliant game from the two!

*Rafael Nadal is up against Thomaz Bellucci.

*Tsonga digs deep, takes the first set 7-6 against Muller.

*The first set between Tsonga and Muller is now into the tie breaker.

*Meanwhile. Harry Redknapp is lending his support to the Scot.

*Tsonga wins the 4th game. First set is now locked at 2-2.

* Petra Kvitova takes on Kiki Bertens on Centre Court following which Roger Federer and Andy Murray will play their respective matches on the same court.

*Jo Wilfried Tsonga will take on G Muller of Luxembourg in some time from now.
