Australia batsman Shaun Marsh is returning home from the team’s tour of Sri Lanka with a broken left little finger sustained while fielding during the visitors’ win on Sunday in a limited-overs match.

Cricket Australia physiotherapist David Beakley said in a statement Tuesday that an x-ray after the match confirmed a fracture “and Shaun will now return to Perth to allow time for this to heal.”

Australia leads the five-match ODI series 2-1 after losing a three-test series 3-0. The teams play the fourth ODI on Wednesday in Dambulla.

Cricket Australia said Usman Khawaja will replace Marsh in the squad for the upcoming two Twenty20 games. Khawaja is in Sri Lanka with the ODI squad but was originally not selected for the T20s.
