Tennis star Novak Djokovic, who defeated Kevin Anderson in the ATP semifinal clash on Saturday, took to Twitter to suggest a “strong candidate” for the England cricket team. The 32-year-old shared a photo with his chauffeur, Imran Bashir, who was seen holding a trophy in his hand and described him as a “famous batsman” for his local cricket team.

“Imran Bashir (my chauffeur for the #NittoATPFinals) has been part of #TeamDjokovic for 10 years! He is also a famous batsman for his local #cricket team. He received this trophy for best batsman of the year and we need to get it out there,” the Serbian wrote.

He further asked England coach Trevor Bayliss to keep an eye on Bashir for future selection. “#TrevorBayliss @englandcricket, you should keep your eye on Imran. I think he is a strong candidate for your team,” Djokovic wrote.

The hilarious tweet by the tennis star immediately prompted cricket’s global governing body, ICC, to invite him for a net session at the 2019 World Cup. In a reply to Djokovic’s tweet, the ICC wrote, “We know you try to avoid nets as a tennis player, but if you feel like mixing up your Wimbledon preparation next year, come down and have a net session at the Cricket World Cup!”

Djokovic produced a masterful display to outclass South Africa’s Anderson 6-2 6-2 on Saturday to set up an ATP Finals title showdown with Alexander Zverev.
