India took an unbeatable 3-0 lead against South Korea in the Davis Cup after Rohan Bopanna and Leander Paes beat their counterparts Hong Chung and Seong Chan Hong 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 at the Chandigarh Club.
Earlier on Friday India were given a commanding lead by Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni in the singles rubbers with both the Korean players unable to finish their matches under hot and humid conditions.
On Saturday, Paes and Bopanna had little trouble closing out and give a boost to their team before they next pair up for the Rio Olympics. The last time the two had taken court together, against Czech Republic in the Davis Cup last year, they had lost in what was a surprising loss for everyone concerned.

In a match that lasted an hour and forty minutes, Bopanna’s big serving was put to good use with 12 aces coming between the Indian pairing.
Paes and Bopanna created a staggering 20 break points chances and converted a meager four highlighting woeful conversion rate on their part but enough to come out with a win. On their part, the Koreans had six break point chances but they only broke once in the third set – incidentally all the break point chances came in the final set.
The World Group playoff tie will be played in September.
