Virat Kohli-led team India in attendance at Yuvraj Singh-Hazel Keech’s mehendi ceremony

With all the arrangements made by Yuvraj’s mother Shabnam Singh, the function saw Indian team-members in attendance at the reception Tuesday evening.

With the Indian team members led by skipper Virat Kohli present during the function, it was a day which saw cricketer Yuvraj Singh and actress Hazel Keech play host to more than 300 guests during their mehendi and reception ceremony at a hotel in Chandigarh Tuesday evening. Singh, who had announced his engagement with London-born Keech last year, was accompanied by long-time friend Angad Bedi, son of former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, in the ceremonies held Tuesday.

While the afternoon haldi ceremony saw Singh dressing up in a black kurta and white pyajama with Hazel dressed in a golden and red attire, the mehendi and reception ceremony saw Singh in a black sherwani with Hazel choosing a black and golden white dress designed by designer Ashley Rebello. “Starting a new innings today! Thank you for your love. Please bless the couple,” Yuvraj tweeted Tuesday ahead of the evening function. He later tweeted saying , “Thanks for coming to the function. My thanks to all well-wishers.”

Fresh after the test match win against England, skipper Virat Kohli was seen with Parthiv Patel, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane. Ravinder Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Cheteshwar Pujara and coach Anil Kumble was also present. Former cricketers Mohammed Kaif and Ashish Nehra also attended apart from current Indian bowler Barinder Sran and Yuvraj’s Ranji teammates Ravneet Ricky, Varun Khanna and Amit Uniyal. “There’s a gathering at the hotel. The whole team is invited. We will all go there and it is a coincidence that we have won. We have a chance to celebrate in the evening,” said Kohli at a press conference after Tuesday’s win. Meanwhile, actor Anushka Sharma met the groom’s family Tuesday morning before the functions began. Former Indian captain Kapil Dev and commentator Gautam Bhimani was also present at the function.

“We are happy that Yuvraj is getting married and the whole family is excited about it. We are busy in preparations as the guests have started to arrive. It is a new innings for Yuvi,” said Shabnam Singh. Yuvraj’s father Yograj Singh too attended the evening function with close to 30 relatives from the paternal side. Among the attendees were AAP MP Bhagwant Mann, VJ and actor Purab Kohli and Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaj. The wedding will take place at a gurdwara near Fatehgarh Sahib Wednesday afternoon.
