SAI release funds for paddlers under TOP Scheme, Sumit Sangwan to train in Ireland

SAI in a statement mentioned Rs 26 lakh have been released for Sharath Kamal, 25 lakh for Manika Bara and 26 lakh for Soumyajit Ghosh.

Sports Authority of India (SAI) have released funds for table tennis players Sharath Kamal, Manika Bara and Soumyajit Ghosh for the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics under the Target Olympic Podium (TOP) Scheme.

The paddlers qualified for Rio Olympics earlier this month.

In a statement, SAI stated the paddlers are free to train and compete in India and abroad in their preparation for the Rio Olympics. Rs 26, 26, 200 have been released for Kamal, Rs 25, 05, 780 for Bara and Rs 26, 96, 850 for Ghosh.

The statement also gave permission to boxer Sumit Sangwan to train at High Performance Centre in Dublin, Ireland to prepare for the upcoming Olympic qualifying round in Baku, Azerbaijan. The boxer will be competing in the 81 kg category.
