11 year-old boy hits jackpot with rare Baseball player card of Paul Skenes
Some publications like The Athletic have speculated that the 11 year old might end up getting an offer over 1 million USD in the auction

When the boy received a hobby box of 2024 Topps Chrome Update for Christmas, he found a redemption card in the box. Though his father mistook it as a checklist, the boy knew better and after he sent it back to Topps, they received the highly-prized one-of-one autographed Paul Skenes MLB debut patch card.
Such has been the craze around Skenes, the American baseball pitcher of the Pittsburgh Pirates this year, that the 11 year old might end up making more money than Skenes MLB salary if the auction goes as expected. As of Wednesday night, there have been 56 bids, with the highest bid reportedly as high as 550000 USD. The family had turned over the card to the auction house Fanatics Collect, and there is still a week left before the bids end on March 20. For the record, the All-Star pitcher Skenes is set to make a base salary of $800,000 this season.
